　 宿に着いて早速温泉に入り酒の席となった。 　 自己紹介をしあい酒盛りが始まった。 　先発隊は薬局の二人と下田先生と北島の合計四人で車は 　 下田先生のボルボの大型ワゴン。 　薬局の子は二人とも地元出身で下越薬科大学出身。 　 下田先生が最初は静かに新潟の銘酒を飲みはじめ、 だんだん盛り上がってきた。　 　北島は本当は洋酒党で日本酒は苦手だった。 　 しかし新潟に来て越乃寒梅、雪中梅を飲んで イメージが変わった。 本当に飲み易い。 　 その中でも特に〆張鶴が好きだった。 　 ウイスキーの水割り、ロック、ワインの栓抜きとか 雑用をして、 つまみをあけて酒の席を盛り上げた。 　そのうちにカラオケに行きたいと言う話になった。 　 運良く宿のカラオケルームが、まだ空いていて、 そこへ向かった。 　 少し、かび臭い部屋だったが設備は、まずまずだった。 　カラオケのセット、マイクのセットを終えて最初に 下田先生の挨拶、 その後すごい勢いで歌い始めた。 キャンディーズ、ピンクレディ、 演歌、大いに盛り上がって 初日を終えた。
